Biography

My name is Kendall Mau. I'm President of Ohana Management Consulting, Inc. of Mountain View, CA. Ohana specializes in turning around troubled microfinance institutions and credit unions in the third world. I handle finance and strategic planning assignments while my partner, Melvia Wong, covers marketing and sales. We've worked in Africa, Central and South Americas, and former Republics of the Soviet Union. I have a whole network of friends and colleagues who lend their expertise depending on the needs of the assigments and projects.

I'm also CFO and COO of Prisma Microfinance of Boston with operating divisions in Nicaragua and Honduras. My colleagues are David Satterthwaite, President, and Monnie Biety, Auditor and Financial Advisor. Prisma Microfinance is one the few for-profit development MFIs with all funding coming from the private sector.

I've been in the business over 25 years, starting my career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in credit union development in Panama and Senegal, and was VP of Finance and Administration of Silicon Valley Federal Credit Union of Palo Alto, CA. I've also been Chief-of-Party for a $5.3M USAID-funded rural agriculture microfinance program in Honduras for ACDI/VOCA.

I hold a BA degree from UC Berkeley, MBA from the University of Maryland, Certificate of Human Resources Management from UC Berkeley Extension, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA.
